Pie Hole Cessnock has been turning out handmade savoury and sweet pies, sausage rolls, pasties and cakes from 138 Wollombi Rd since 2020. Owners Matt and Kylie bake everything on-site from scratch, with gluten-free and vegetarian options every day. Drop in for a chilli and cheese, a steak and pepper, or a cherry turnover — and grab a soft serve on the way out.

Great range of pies that are fairly priced and packed with flavour. I had the Chilli and Cheese pie first and it was delicious. One handed pie that was the perfect temp and just the right amount of flaky goodness. Not served in foil, which is a good sign.

Great pies - have had steak and cheese, and steak Diane. Both full of flavour. Also couldn't pass up the Palmier. Took me back 20 years and was delicious!

I just moved to the area from Newcastle and stopped in for some lunch between van trips. The young lady working was incredibly welcoming and more than happy to talk me through what was in each of the pies. The pie itself was fantastic, even at the end of the day, but what really stood out was the gravy and mince. The first bite gave me an instant flashback to my grandmother’s homemade pies. I’m so glad I stopped in and I will definitely be back.

I travel alot for work and the old bakery in a small town is always my go too for a quick easy feed. This place will have me going out of my way to come back for more!! I had the tomato and onion pie (no sauce) and a plain pie and my word, absolutely delicious! The staff (lady serving) and a fella on the oven were both friedly, chatty and overall just had a good feel to the place. Love it when i see product still being made in store fresh.

Extremely disappointing experience at Pie Hole!!! Before ordering, we specifically asked the staff member if the cream was fresh. She confidently told us it was made today. That was clearly not true. It was mock cream and it tasted old and unpleasant. We felt completely misled and quite honestly lied to. The rest of the food was just as disappointing. The apple turnover had no apple inside —just pastry. The sausage roll was completely tasteless and dry. For the amount of money we spent, the quality was nowhere near acceptable. To make matters worse, there were dead flies inside the drink fridge. That is extremely unhygienic and very concerning from a food safety point of view. Overall, poor quality food, misleading service, and questionable hygiene. We definitely won’t be returning.

Classic bakery / pie shop. To many amazing baked goods to choose from. Fresh baked in store. Soft serve ice cream and milkshakes as well. Great friendly staff to help you choose.

Do you have gluten-free pies?
Yes — we bake a gluten-free plain beef pie every day at both shops. It's the same generous size as our regular pies. Other flavours rotate depending on the day, so ring ahead if you want to lock one in.
Do you do vegetarian options?
Every day. Our curry vegetable pie and spinach and ricotta roll are on the shelf all week, and we rotate seasonal vegetarian pies on top of that.
Can I order a custom cake?
Yes. We do birthday cakes, cupcake orders and cakes for weddings and events. Give us at least 3–5 days' notice for anything custom. Call the shop closest to you or use the contact form.
Do you supply pies wholesale?
Yes. We wholesale handmade pies across the Central Coast and Hunter Valley — cafés, pubs, clubs and caterers. Head to our wholesale page for a quote.
Can I pre-order for pickup?
Phone pre-orders are welcome at both shops, especially if you need a tray of pies for an event or want to make sure a specific flavour is held for you. Online pre-order is coming soon.
Where exactly is the Cessnock shop?
138 Wollombi Rd, Cessnock — heading out of town towards Pokolbin. Street parking out front. Wollombi Rd is being widened over the next few years, so look out for the signage if the layout changes.
